The Media Office of the government in Gaza announced that Israel has killed 24 Palestinian female journalists since October 7th. Salame Maruf, the head of the Media Office in Gaza, made a statement on International Women’s Day on March 8th. Salame stated that 24 female journalists have lost their lives in Israel’s attacks in Gaza, adding, “Being women could not save them from the cruel army, and journalistic immunity could not protect them from becoming victims.” Highlighting that the act of killing Palestinian female journalists by the Israeli army is a violation of international humanitarian law, Salame emphasized that it happened in front of the free world that claims to defend women’s rights and journalists’ rights.
