In a written statement from the army, it was stated, “The army and the internal intelligence organization Shin-Bet (Shabak) targeted Hasan Abdulfettah Muhammed Islih, who was a member of Hamas and worked under the guise of a journalist and owned a media company, in Khan Yunis last night.” The statement claimed that the attack was carried out with the intention of targeting Islih, who belonged to the Hamas Brigade in Khan Yunis. Islih, one of the 9 injured journalists in the attack, has not yet made a statement regarding Israel’s claims. Israeli warplanes bombed a tent where journalists were staying near the Nasir Hospital in Khan Yunis, resulting in a fire in the tent.
