Israel has announced that it will eliminate customs duties on all US products. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Economy and Industry jointly announced that the government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to cancel all customs duties on products imported from the United States. The statement noted that under the free trade agreement signed with the US in 1985, most goods imported from the country are already exempt from customs duties. It was mentioned in the announcement that the tax exemption for products imported from the US will initially start with a limited number of items in the food and agriculture categories and then be extended to all products. The removal of customs duties on food and agricultural products is expected to reduce the cost of living for the Israeli people.
