6 Mins Read

Iran conducted a retaliatory strike on Israel with hundreds of missiles. Explosions and sirens were heard in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, with initial reports indicating that Iran fired close to 500 missiles, including supersonic ones. However, the Israeli Defense Ministry disclosed that 180 missiles were launched. Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system was activated against the missiles. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that the attack was in response to Israeli strikes that killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and Iranian general Abbas Nilforoushan. The Guard Corps warned of a “destructive response” if further attacks were made. The Israeli army stated, “This was a serious attack with consequences. We will respond accordingly.” The Revolutionary Guard Corps named the operation “Real Promise 2.”

As Israel carried out a ground operation in Lebanon, Iran initiated the retaliatory attack.

The Israeli army reported missiles launched from Iran and civilians seeking shelter in bomb shelters. The Israeli army radio cited approximately 200 missiles launched from Iran.

Shortly after the attack, Iranian sources declared that nearly 500 missiles were fired, including supersonic Fattah-1 missiles. The Iranian Defense Ministry confirmed 180 missiles were launched in the aftermath.

The Fattah-1 mid-range hypersonic missiles were first introduced by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in 2023.

SIRENS IN JERUSALEM AND TEL AVIV: Sirens and explosions were heard as the attack began in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Air defense systems were activated in Tel Aviv. Witnesses reported that some of the missiles fired from Iran were intercepted in Jordanian airspace. AFP reported a halt in flight traffic at Ben Gurion Airport, which later resumed. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz stated no injuries were reported from the attack.

ISRAEL: THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES: The Israeli army warned of repercussions, stating, “This was a serious attack with consequences. We will respond accordingly.” Israeli officials claimed over 200 missiles were launched in a two-stage attack. The army ordered the closure of a new military base in northern Israel. The army announced the death of El-Fakhar Hinawi, the commander of the Hezbollah-associated Imam Hussein Brigade in Beirut, along with Muhammad Qaffar Qasir, responsible for arms transfers from Iran and its affiliates to Hezbollah.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “Iran made a big mistake tonight. They will pay the price. Iran’s missile attack on Israel failed.”

Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced they targeted three Israeli bases with numerous missiles. The attack was in retaliation for Israeli strikes killing Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and Iranian general Abbas Nilforoushan. A warning was issued that a military response by Israel would face a “destructive response.” Reuters reported the attack was ordered by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. A senior Iranian official expressed Iran’s readiness for any future retaliation and assured Khamenei’s safety.

Later on, the Revolutionary Guards announced that they targeted three Israeli bases in the attack, with up to 90% of the missiles successfully hitting their targets.

The Iranian Armed Forces warned, “Supporters of Israel interfering directly in Tehran will confront their bases in the region being hit by a powerful Iranian attack.” Iraq reopened its airspace to civilian flights.

BIDEN CALLS FOR URGENT MEETING: US President Joe Biden called for an emergency meeting, stating that the US is ready to protect Israel and American personnel in the region against such attacks.
