Iranian Vice President Mohammad Javad Zarif stated that “Iran’s response to the crimes of the Zionist regime will be given at the appropriate time and based on Iran’s preference.”
According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, Vice President Zarif, responsible for Strategic Affairs, attended a commemoration ceremony for Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah at Hezbollah’s representation in Tehran, who died in the attack on Beirut by Israel on September 27.
When asked about Iran’s possible reaction to Israel by a journalist at the ceremony, Zarif used the phrase, “Iran’s response to the crimes of the Zionist regime will be given at the appropriate time and based on Iran’s preference.”
IRANIAN PARLIAMENT MEMBERS REACT TO NASRALLAH ASSASSINATION Meanwhile, the Iranian parliament protested against the assassination attempt on Nasrallah.
According to Iran’s state television, in a speech addressing the parliament members, Speaker of the Parliament Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf stated, “Israel carries out its crimes with the military, intelligence, media, and financial support of the United States. The U.S. is complicit in all of these crimes.”
Qalibaf expressed that supporting resistance forces in the region is amongst the country’s security strategies, saying, “In line with the guidelines of the Supreme Leader (country leader Ali Khamenei), we will not hesitate to provide the highest level of support to the resistance forces.” Following Qalibaf’s speech, the parliament members chanted slogans such as “Down with Israel,” “Down with America.”
IRANIAN PARLIAMENT SPEAKER QALIBAF CONVEYS “WE ARE BY LEBANON’S SIDE” MESSAGE
Iranian Parliament Speaker Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf, in a phone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri, conveyed a message that their country stands by Lebanon.
According to the Tasnim News Agency, Qalibaf expressed his condolences to Berri on the death of Hasan Nasrallah.
1052 PEOPLE DEAD IN ISRAEL’S VIOLENT ATTACKS ON LEBANON The Israeli army, engaged in controlled clashes with Hezbollah since October 8, 2023, carried out hundreds of airstrikes on the southern towns of Lebanon, as well as the Bekaa and Baalbek regions on September 23. According to Lebanese authorities, since the detonation of communication devices used by Hezbollah on September 17, a total of 1052 people, including 104 children and 194 women, have died. Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah was killed in the Israeli airstrikes on Beirut on September 27. Hezbollah, in return, is responding to Israel with rockets and missiles. Reports indicate that significant damage has not been reported in the attacks mostly targeting military bases on the Israeli side. Due to the Israeli bombardment, nearly 150,000 people have been displaced within the country. While the influx of migration continues from the southern regions to the capital Beirut and the north, tens of thousands are said to have migrated to Syria.
