Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi shared on social media, “Indirect talks between Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi and US President’s Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff began under the mediation of Oman’s Foreign Minister Bedr Al-Busaidi.” According to Bekayi’s statement, separate rooms were arranged for the Iranian and US delegations during the talks.

According to a written statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the first round of talks held in Oman’s mediation between Iran and the US has concluded. The indirect discussions led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi and US Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff’s delegations were carried out in a “constructive atmosphere based on mutual respect.” The Iranian and US delegations also had a few minutes of direct talks. The parties agreed for the discussions to continue next week.
