Renowned global business tycoon Ratan Tata from India has passed away. Tata was known for acquiring giant companies. Ratan Tata, the former chairman of India-based Tata Group, passed away at the age of 86. The statement from Tata Group expressed a deep sense of loss, honoring Ratan Naval Tata, who not only shaped the Tata Group but also the fabric of our nation with his immeasurable contributions as a truly extraordinary leader. The statement mentioned that under Ratan Tata’s leadership, the Tata Group, which manufactures automobiles and steel, and offers IT and financial services, expanded its global presence. Born in Mumbai in 1937, Tata was admitted to a hospital in the western Indian city of Mumbai this week due to health issues related to old age. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Tata as a “visionary business leader” whose contributions went beyond the boardroom. Tata, one of India’s famous industrialists in the world’s most populous country, expanded his company’s global footprint by acquiring European companies like the British luxury car brands Jaguar and Land Rover, as well as the UK-Dutch joint steel company Corus Group, for billions of dollars. Today, Tata Group operates in more than 100 countries. Tata studied architecture and civil engineering at Cornell University in the US. Unlike other wealthy Indian businesspeople, Tata did not appear on Forbes’ list of billionaires and led a “simple” life in an apartment in Mumbai.
