Increase in Petroleum Imports in August

In August, Turkey’s total petroleum and petroleum product imports increased by 1.85 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 4,431,668 tons. According to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority’s (EPDK) “Petroleum Market Sector Report” for August, the largest item in Turkey’s total petroleum imports, crude oil import, decreased by 7.11 percent to 2,649,870 tons. During this period, the import of diesel types decreased by 22.5 percent to 1,273,878 tons. The rest of the imports consisted of aviation and maritime fuels, gasoline, fuel oil types, and other products. As a result, total imports in August increased by 1.85 percent compared to the same month last year, totaling 4,431,668 tons. The highest import of crude oil and petroleum products, 1,313,038 tons, was from Russia, followed by Iraq with 487,683 tons and Kazakhstan with 316,212 tons. On the other hand, domestic gasoline sales in August increased by 40.2 percent compared to the same month last year, totaling 519,186 tons, while diesel sales increased by 9 percent to 2,429,967 tons. Total petroleum product sales also increased by 12.6 percent, reaching 3,110,114 tons. PETROLEUM PRODUCT EXPORTS INCREASED Turkey’s aviation fuel exports increased by 0.42 percent to 574,316 tons in August compared to the same month last year, while maritime fuel exports increased by 104.7 percent to 159,037 tons. Gasoline type exports decreased by 67.2 percent to 8,687 tons, while diesel type exports increased by 42.1 percent to 257,192 tons. Total petroleum exports in the market increased by 0.8 percent to 1,206,438 tons. Diesel production decreased by 10.2 percent to 1,304,879 tons in August compared to the same month last year. Gasoline production increased by 5.04 percent to 471,999 tons, while aviation fuel production decreased by 0.44 percent to 644,751 tons. Maritime fuel production increased by 95.9 percent to 165,027 tons. Total refinery petroleum product production decreased by approximately 10.9 percent to 3,111,648 tons.
