Increase in Company Activities in the Euro Area

In March, there was an increase in company activities in the Euro Area. S&P Global and Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB) announced the Preliminary Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) data for the Euro Area for the month of March. According to the data, the composite PMI, which was 50.2 in February, increased to 50.4 in March, reaching its highest level in the past 7 months. The manufacturing PMI, which was 47.6 in February, rose to 48.7 in March, reaching the highest level in the past 26 months. However, the services sector PMI decreased from 50.6 to 50.4 during this period. In PMI data, a level above 50 indicates sectoral growth, while a level below indicates contraction. The data revealed that total activities increased in the Euro Area alongside the revival in production.
