Houthis, backed by Iran in Yemen, announced that they targeted the Nevatim Air Base in Israel’s south with a hypersonic ballistic missile and shot down a US-owned MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the El-Jawf province in Yemen. In the capital city Sana’a, a solidarity rally was held in support of Gaza Strip and Lebanon under attack by Israel. Military Spokesperson for the Houthis, Yahya Seri, provided details on the incidents during the rally. Seri mentioned that they carried out a sophisticated military operation targeting the Nevatim Air Base in the Negev region of Israel with a hypersonic ballistic missile named “Palestine 2”, which hit the target directly. Seri also stated that the air defense forces successfully shot down a US-owned MQ-9 UAV conducting hostile activities this morning in the El-Jawf province airspace. Seri noted that their support for Palestine and Lebanon will continue as they have now shot down a total of 12 MQ-9 drones in their fight against the US and Israel. Additionally, “Al-Masirah” television, linked to the Houthis, reported that American-British warplanes carried out 2 airstrikes in the Et-Tuhayta district of Hodeidah province with no information provided on casualties or damage caused in the attacks.
