Turkish Confederation of Trade Unions announced that the hunger threshold rose to 19,830 liras in September. The poverty threshold exceeded 64,000 liras. Food prices recorded a 2.90% increase compared to the previous month. Turkish Confederation of Trade Unions released the results of the hunger and poverty threshold research for September. According to the research, the amount of food expenditure required for a healthy, balanced, and sufficient diet for a family of four, known as the ‘hunger threshold,’ increased from 19,271 to 19,830 liras in September. Thus, the hunger threshold exceeded the minimum wage by 2,828 liras. The ‘poverty threshold,’ which corresponds to the total amount of mandatory expenses for food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, health, and other similar needs, increased from 62,772 to 64,595 liras. According to the research, the cost of living for a single worker reached 25,706 liras. KITCHEN INFLATION RISES The minimum expenditure required for a family of four living in Ankara for food increased by 2.90% compared to the previous month. The annual change in kitchen inflation was 48.72%.
