AT LEAST 30 DEAD IN FOREST FIRES
South Korea is currently experiencing the worst forest fire disaster in the country’s history in recent weeks. At least 30 people have lost their lives in the fires, with many homes and buildings also damaged. The South Korean government declared a national disaster due to forest fires that began on March 21 in the southeast regions including the city of Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang provinces. While forest fires were reported at 16 different points across the country, it was noted that thousands of hectares of forest land were burned, and thousands of people were evacuated.
