Intense rainfall in Peru has caused a flood that has inundated a health center. Nevertheless, the clinic continues to provide services under these conditions. Both rooms and the corridors of the clinic are filled with water.
The excessive rainfall in Peru led to the river overflowing its banks. Homes, schools, businesses, and public buildings were flooded. Among the places affected by the flood is a health center in the Amazon region. The corridors and rooms of the clinic are now filled with water. However, since it is the only health center in the area, it continues to provide services. Doctors are attending to patients wading through the water. Efforts are being made to take precautions against the water with rubber boots and boards placed on the floor.
NEAREST CENTER 8 HOURS AWAY The nearest health center outside of this area is 8 hours away. Therefore, the clinic has no choice but to continue providing services. However, the situation created is concerning in terms of hygiene. There is a worry that the proliferation of mosquitoes that can lead to malaria might occur. Local authorities and the government are being requested to provide assistance in draining the water from the clinic.
