The Vice President of the United States and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris stated that she accepted the election defeat. Harris, who said they will peacefully transfer power to Donald Trump, emphasized the importance of accepting the results of the elections.
Having lost the presidential election in the United States on November 5th, Harris addressed her supporters on the Howard University campus in Washington. Acknowledging their defeat to Republican rival Trump, Harris stated, “We need to accept the results of these elections. I spoke to President-elect Trump to congratulate him on his victory. I also told him and his team that we will assist in ensuring a peaceful transfer of power.”
“HOWEVER, I DO NOT GIVE UP ON THE FIGHT THAT FUELED THIS CAMPAIGN” Emphasizing that their allegiance is to the Constitution, not to Trump, Harris said, “I accept that I lost this election but I do not give up on the fight that fueled this campaign.” She praised the successful campaign they ran and thanked everyone who supported her, encouraging them to continue working for the values they believe in. In the presidential elections held on November 5th in the United States, Republican Trump won over 270 electoral votes, making him the country’s 47th president. Trump will officially begin his term by taking the oath on January 20, 2025.
