The storm known as “chestnut black” among the people of the Western Black Sea has ended, bringing the hamsi to the markets. Hamsi, sold for 100 liras per kilogram in Düzce, attracted significant attention. The Western Black Sea region had been under the influence of the “chestnut black” storm for about 2 weeks, during which fishermen could not go out to sea. Following the end of the storm, boats set out for fishing and returned to the shore with hamsi. In Düzce, hamsi also hit the markets at a price of 100 liras per kilogram. Fishmonger Hülya Kılıç, who mentioned that the hamsi arrived at the market 2 days ago, said, “People are consuming hamsi at 100 liras per kilogram. The sea is beautiful. Hopefully this abundance continues.” Kılıç noted that the abundance of bonito is slowly decreasing and advised people to enjoy it while they can, as it is becoming scarce. She also said, “I think from now on, we will be able to eat hamsi in better conditions.”
