Hamas: “We will release hostages all at once if Israel withdraws from Gaza”

2 Mins Read

Hamas, within the framework of ceasefire talks mediated by Egypt with Israel, stated that they are ready to “immediately surrender all captives” if Israel withdraws from Gaza.

Egypt received Israel’s proposal for a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and initiated negotiations to achieve a permanent ceasefire accordingly.

Egyptian sources indicated that the proposal was communicated to Hamas, and Egypt was awaiting a response from Hamas as soon as possible. Sources speaking to Reuters’ Al-Qahera News, close to the government, mentioned that although details of the proposal were not disclosed, this step could pave the way for a lasting ceasefire process.

A Hamas official claimed that Israel’s recent offer did not foresee a “complete ceasefire,” only aimed at recovering Israeli hostages. The same official stated, “If Israel ends the war and completely withdraws from Gaza, we are ready to surrender our hostages in one go.” The progress of the talks is crucial for ending the conflicts in the region. Egypt continues its diplomatic efforts as a mediator by maintaining contacts with both Israel and Hamas.

After the ceasefire that entered into force on January 19 in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army resumed severe attacks on the morning of March 18. Israel announced that it would act “with increasing military force” against Hamas, citing the rejection of new ceasefire proposals. Since the resumption of Israeli army attacks, 1563 Palestinians, mostly elderly, women, and children, lost their lives, while 4,404 individuals were injured.
