In response to Israel breaking the ceasefire in Gaza, Hamas retaliated by firing rockets towards the coastal cities of Ashkelon and Ashdod from the Deir al-Balah area in the center of Gaza, according to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

It was reported that 10 rockets were launched, with 5 of them being intercepted by the air defense system. One person was injured and taken to Barzilai Hospital due to shrapnel from a rocket that fell in Ashkelon.

During the panic moments as some residents sought shelter, it was reported that some sustained minor injuries. The attack and the damages in different areas were captured by amateur cameras.

The military wing of Hamas, the Al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that it was a response to Israel’s “massacres against civilians.”
