Greece has inked a deal with the Paris government to purchase shipborne missiles.
The agreement was signed by Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias and French Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu during his visit to Athens.
Lecornu visited the Greek Ministry of National Defense earlier this morning. Greeted with a ceremony by soldiers, the French minister held a private meeting with his Greek counterpart Dendias.
According to the leading Greek newspaper Kathimerini, the visit of the French Defense Minister not only covered bilateral issues but also extended to broader strategic directions within the European context.
Under a defense agreement signed with France in 2021, Greece had agreed to acquire 3 French frigates and 24 Dassault-made Rafale fighter jets. As part of the 25 billion euro deal lasting until 2036, Greece announced that it will procure the 4th Belharra frigate and cruise missiles from France.
