Government protest in Israel: Demonstrators gathered in front of the Parliament building

1 Mins Read

In Israel, dozens of protesters demonstrating against the government in front of the parliament building were removed from the area by security forces. The actions that took place after the Israeli parliament Knesset finally passed the long-delayed 2025 state budget during the day highlighted how divided the country is on the situation of individuals still being held hostage in Gaza and the broader political landscape. Prior to the vote, security forces dispersed protestors trying to gather around the parliament to protest the recent moves to dismiss the head of Israel’s domestic intelligence agency and the attorney general, in addition to the hostage issue. Last week, the Israeli army resumed its operations in Gaza against Hamas, breaking the two-month ceasefire. The resumption of hostilities led to mass protests in Israel, increasing calls for negotiations to return the remaining hostages and the bodies of those killed.
