In February, global raw steel production decreased by 3.4 percent compared to the same month last year, mainly influenced by the drop in production in China, reaching 144.7 million tons. The World Steel Association, based in Brussels, released the raw steel production data for February. Global raw steel production in the second month of the year dropped by 3.4 percent compared to February 2024, totaling 144.7 million tons. The notable decline was the 3.3 percent reduction in production in China, the world’s largest steel producer, decreasing to 78.9 million tons. Japan’s production also decreased by 8.5 percent, falling to 6.4 million tons. It was calculated that in February, raw steel production decreased by 7 percent in the US, dropping to 6 million tons, and by 13.5 percent in Germany, falling to 2.7 million tons. It was estimated that in February, raw steel production in Brazil decreased by 1.6 percent to 2.7 million tons, and in Russia by 3.4 percent to 5.8 million tons. During the same period, India’s production increased by 6.3 percent to 21.8 million tons, while Iran’s production decreased by 24.1 percent to 1.7 million tons. Turkey’s raw steel production in February declined by 5.6 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 2.9 million tons.
