Feeling desperate, the fisherman in Gaza, Halid Habib, transformed an old refrigerator door into a net using various materials.
Habib made a cage out of steel wires and started fishing again in this way. ISRAELI SOLDIERS THREATENING Gaza fisherman, is fishing enough to feed his family and make some sales. Describing the difficulties they face, Habib stated, “Even if there is a ceasefire, fishing is still challenging. We cannot go outside the port because Israeli soldiers threaten to shoot if we do. They have injured many fishermen in this way.”FISHING ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations warns that fishing, an important source of income in Gaza, is on the verge of collapse. Between October 2023 and April 2024, the daily fishing rate dropped by up to 7.3%. A loss of 17 million dollars has been incurred.
