Fresh Beans the Price Champion in Istanbul

In Istanbul, the product with the highest price increase in March was fresh beans, with a 60.36 percent rise. The biggest drop was seen in plane tickets, with a decrease of 26.03 percent. The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC) announced the products with the highest and lowest retail price changes in March, along with their rate of change. Out of the 336 main products listed in the index compared to the previous month, prices of 208 products increased, while prices of 52 products decreased. In March, fresh beans had the highest price increase compared to the previous month at 60.36 percent, followed by eggplants at 43.88 percent, zucchinis at 41.93 percent, bell peppers at 41.73 percent, and intercity bus tickets at 34.58 percent. The other products with the highest price increase were men’s barber services-haircuts at 25.23 percent, lemons at 24.96 percent, tomatoes at 21.92 percent, cauliflower at 19.64 percent, garlic at 19.06 percent, bananas at 17.25 percent, and onions at 16.11 percent. Last month, chili peppers rose by 12.17 percent, daily car rental prices by 11.3 percent, cologne by 9.65 percent, green onions by 8.79 percent, ice cream by 8.55 percent, and potatoes by 8.42 percent. The product with the biggest price drop in March compared to the previous month was plane tickets, with a decrease of 26.03 percent, followed by porcelain household items at 14.19 percent, curly lettuces at 7.98 percent, and olive oil at 2.89 percent. Prices also decreased in dining room sets by 2.19 percent, fish by 2.18 percent, deodorants by 1.75 percent, peanuts by 1.23 percent, paprika by 0.91 percent, and instant soups by 0.39 percent.
