The European Union (EU) will distribute 36,000 free travel passes to young people aged 18 residing in countries associated with the Erasmus+ program. In a written statement by the EU Commission, it was announced that young people will be provided with 36,000 travel cards under the program called “DiscoverEU.” The announcement stated that applications have started today, and successful applicants will be able to travel by train across Europe for 30 days between July 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026. It was mentioned in the announcement that applicants must have been born between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007, and reside in countries associated with the Erasmus+ program such as EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Turkey. The deadline for applications is set to end at 1:00 PM CET on April 16. The EU’s grant program Erasmus+, which covers education, youth, and sports sectors and has been implemented between 2021-2027, had provided more than 355,000 travel cards through the “DiscoverEU” initiative initiated in 2018.
