France demanded Israel to stop its attacks on Lebanon. As concerns grew about the escalation of war in the Middle East after the killing of Hasan Nasrallah in an Israeli bombardment in Beirut, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot met with Lebanese Prime Minister Necib Mikati. During the meeting, Barrot conveyed Paris’s demand for the immediate cessation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon and emphasized that France is opposed to any ground operation.
