Former US Prosecutor who Resigned in January Found Dead at Home

Jessica Aber, the former Prosecutor for the Eastern District of Virginia, was found dead at her home. Police are investigating the shocking cause of death. Jessica Aber, who resided in Alexandria, Virginia, was discovered unresponsive in her home by officers from the Alexandria Police Department early Saturday morning. According to Fox News, she was appointed during President Joe Biden’s tenure but resigned when Donald Trump took office in January. Officials stated that the reason for Aber’s death is still under investigation. The official cause of death will be determined following an autopsy by the Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office. Aber’s colleagues are in mourning. Erik Siebert, the current US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, expressed his sorrow in a statement released on Saturday afternoon. He stated, “Our friend and former colleague, US Attorney Jessica Aber, passed away, and our hearts are shattered beyond words. She was unparalleled as a leader, mentor, and prosecutor, and irreplaceable as a person.” Jessica Aber had served as an Assistant US Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia since 2009 and worked as a Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division in the Department of Justice from 2015 to 2016.
