Former Israeli Chief of Staff: Netanyahu is a threat and should be arrested

1 Mins Read

Former Israeli Chief of Staff Dan Halutz stated in a program on Channel 12 in Israel that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a “threat to national security and an enemy” who should be arrested. Halutz’s remarks sparked debate in Israel, prompting a written response from Netanyahu’s Likud party. The statement defended Halutz as “the most unsuccessful chief of staff in the country’s history,” rejecting his comments as undemocratic and accusing him of inciting assassination attempts against the Prime Minister by the extreme left. The Likud Party further claimed that Halutz’s words represent “anarchists who surrender to the words of the enemy, rather than the values on which the Israeli military, public opinion, and democracy are built.” Halutz had previously suggested that the “greatest victory photo” in Gaza could be achieved by removing Netanyahu from office.
