Forest fires that started in Japan’s Okayama and Ehime states quickly spread over a wide area. Evacuation warnings were issued to nearly a thousand people, and a total of 355 hectares of land turned to ashes.
Once again, Japan has fallen victim to forest fires. According to information from local authorities, forest fires that started yesterday evening in the country’s Okayama and Ehime states spread rapidly over a wide area, influenced by the dry weather.
In Okayama state, at least 250 hectares of forest land turned to ashes, with 6 buildings damaged due to the fire. Evacuation warnings were issued to 893 people living in 403 households. The forest fire in Ehime state destroyed a minimum of 105 hectares of land.
As a precautionary measure, some local train services were suspended, and some highways were closed to vehicle traffic. Upon the request of Okayama and Ehime states, SDF personnel were sent to the fire areas to support extinguishing efforts. It was reported that the battle against the flames was ongoing. ONE PERSON DIED A forest fire that started in Japan’s Iwate state on February 26 caused 1 death and damaged 171 buildings. 4,500 people were evacuated due to the fire that turned 2,900 hectares of land to ashes. The flames were brought under control in 12 days.
