In the capital of North Macedonia, Üsküp, it was reported that heavy rainfall caused flooding. Dozens of homes were damaged in the village of Batinci, located near Üsküp, which is part of the Studenicani Municipality. Following the rain that intensified last night in the country, the overflowing of the Markova River resulted in flooding in Batinci village, submerging dozens of homes and causing damage to roads. Studenicani Mayor Azem Sadiki stated to journalists that there were no casualties in the flood that occurred after the rain intensified last night. Sadiki mentioned, “The situation here was very serious last night. Due to the river overflowing, dozens of homes in the village were flooded, but we are lucky that there was no greater damage.” He added that the municipality teams immediately started the necessary work, with the support of private companies, to prevent further flooding of the river, and reported a decrease in the water level in the river. Sadiki emphasized that the bridge in the village suffered minor damage due to the flood but was reopened for use. Additionally, it was reported that floods occurred in the villages of Ljubosh, Pintija, Gorno Lisiche, and Dolno Lisiche in the region, along with Batinci.
