Flood Disaster in Argentina: 10 People Killed

According to initial assessments, 10 people lost their lives in the floods caused by heavy rains in Argentina. A red alert was issued for the city of Bahia Blanca. Javier Alonso, the Security Minister of Buenos Aires Province, announced to the press that a flood disaster occurred in the port city of Bahia Blanca and that 10 people died. Alonso warned that the death toll could rise as the floodwaters recede, saying, “We know that 10 people have died so far, but unfortunately, we are concerned that this number may increase.”Presidential Spokesperson Manuel Adorni stated in a social media post that President Javier Milei had canceled planned national trips and issued necessary instructions for rescue teams to reach the region. The National Integrated Risk Management System (Sinagir) under the Ministry of National Security declared a red alert for the city of Bahia Blanca and announced that civil defense teams were being directed to the region. Argentina’s Economy Minister, Luis Caputo, shared on X platform, “Bahia’s people are experiencing a terrible situation. We offer our full solidarity and support in this difficult time. We have approved a budget for the region. Hopefully, the situation will improve soon.” Meanwhile, according to local reports, over 800 people have been evacuated in the city of Bahia Blanca so far.
