‘Family Year’ Discount on Trains: Discounts for Families and Newlyweds Coming

In the year 2025, declared as the “Family Year” by President Erdoğan, train travel will be discounted. Starting from March 8th, families will be able to purchase tickets with a 15% discount, while newlywed couples will enjoy a 50% discount.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that special discounts will be offered to families and newlyweds for train travel within the scope of the declaration of 2025 as the “Family Year” by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

BEGINNING ON MARCH 8

Minister Uraloğlu said, “The implementation we will launch within the scope of the Family Year will start on March 8th.”

Minister Uraloğlu explained that within the discounts valid throughout the year 2025, family members including grandparents, in addition to parents and children, can benefit from discounts when traveling together. Minister Uraloğlu stated the following in his announcement:

“This practice requiring a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 11 tickets will allow families to travel economically and comfortably with a 15% discount. On the other hand, for couples who marry in 2025, a ‘Newlywed Fare’ will be introduced. With this special fare, newlywed couples can purchase train tickets with a 50% discount.”

EXISTING DISCOUNTS WILL CONTINUE

Minister Uraloğlu mentioned that the current discounts offered by TCDD Transportation Inc. will continue, reminding that children aged 0-6 travel for free, children aged 7-12 benefit from a 50% discount, and young people aged 13-26 travel with a 15% discount.

Additionally, Uraloğlu stated that passengers aged 60-64 will have a 15% discount, while passengers aged 65 and over will receive a 50% discount. He also noted that a 15% discount continues to be applied to teachers, military personnel, and journalists holding domestic or foreign press cards.
