Eyes on the Central Bank’s Interest Rate Decision

The markets are focused on the Central Bank’s interest rate decision. The interest rate decision for October will be announced today at 14:00.

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) will hold its October interest rate decision meeting today. The Monetary Policy Committee will convene under the chairmanship of Fatih Karahan for the tenth interest rate decision of the year.

The bank last raised the policy rate to 50% in March. In the interest rate decision meeting held last month, the policy rate was kept at 50%.

WHAT ARE ECONOMISTS’ INTEREST RATE EXPECTATIONS? The expectation survey conducted by AA Finans for the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting on Thursday, October 17th, with the participation of 16 economists, has been concluded. The median expectation of economists regarding a change in the policy rate was for it to remain unchanged at 50%. According to the survey results, all economists predict that the policy rate will be kept at 50%.

YEAR-END INTEREST RATE EXPECTATION The median year-end policy rate expectation of economists was calculated to be 47.50%. Additionally, 5 economists predicted the policy rate would be 50% at the year-end, while 7 predicted it would be 47.5%.
