A report released after the panel highlighted that it would not be realistic for the densely populated Tokyo and surrounding cities to evacuate the area all at once. The report also emphasized the need for the government to establish a system to disseminate information and secure evacuation routes. Professor Emeritus Fujii Toshitsugu from the University of Tokyo, who chaired the panel, mentioned that Japan has not experienced a widespread ash-spewing eruption in the past 100 years, but the country should prepare for such a disaster in advance.
