Europeans spent over 10 billion euros on coffee imports last year

Member countries of the European Union (EU) conducted coffee imports worth 10.6 billion euros last year. In light of the October 1st International Coffee Day, Eurostat, the European Statistical Office, released data on the coffee imports of the 27 member states for the year 2023. According to the report, EU member countries paid a total of 10.6 billion euros for a total of 2.7 million tons of coffee imports last year. Brazil led the EU’s coffee imports with 922 thousand tons, followed by Vietnam with 652 thousand tons, Uganda with 206 thousand tons, Honduras with 169 thousand tons, India with 118 thousand tons, Colombia with 113 thousand tons, Peru with 83 thousand tons, and Indonesia with 68 thousand tons. During this period, Germany imported 911 thousand tons, Italy 625 thousand tons, Belgium 278 thousand tons, Spain 249 thousand tons, and France 184 thousand tons of coffee. On the other hand, EU countries produced 2.3 million tons of roasted coffee in 2023, with a total value of 13 billion euros.
