European Resentment Evident in Scandalous War Plan Leak: National Security Crisis Looming in the US

3 Mins Read

Concerns regarding national security in the US have escalated following the leakage of war plans in a chat group. Additionally, messages revealed Vice President JD Vance’s statement: “I hate saving Europe again” was included.

Among the messages reported by Atlantic magazine’s editor-in-chief Goldberg include discussions in the Signal chat by American officials regarding the potential for Europe to pay to protect key US transportation routes. According to the news published by The Atlantic, top American officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, discussed a planned attack on Yemen in a Signal group, which “accidentally” included the magazine’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg.

The shared messages, as per the magazine, contained operational details of the upcoming attacks, the targets, the weapons the US would use, and the sequence of the attacks. Only two hours after Goldberg received information about the attack, the US initiated a series of air strikes targeting Houthi targets in Yemen. Goldberg announced the news with the headline “Trump administration mistakenly messaged me war plans”.

“NOW OR IN A FEW WEEKS” According to BBC, among the messages reported by Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg are discussions by American officials in the Signal chat about the potential for Europe to pay to protect key US transportation routes. A White House National Security Advisor associated account wrote on March 14th, “Whether now or in a few weeks, it must be the US that reopens these transport routes.” The message continued, stating that at Trump’s request, the team was working with the defense and state departments to determine “how the relevant cost would be compiled and attributed to Europeans.” A NOTABLE MESSAGE FROM JD VANCE In one segment of the communication, the account named JD Vance, the Vice President, lamented that the attacks would be to the benefit of Europeans due to their dependence on these transport routes and added: “I hate saving Europe again.” The user identified as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth replied three minutes later, saying, “VP: I fully share your hatred for Europe’s free ride. That’s disgusting.” National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes stated in an interview with BBC, “At the moment, the reported message chain appears to be true. We are looking into how a wrong number was added to the chain.” Hughes added, “This chain demonstrates a deep and meticulous policy coordination among top officials.” “FORMING GROUPS CAN VIOLATE ESPIONAGE LAW” However, according to Skynews, the leak is raising significant questions concerning national security, and legal experts suggest that creating groups on Signal may violate espionage laws.
