Europe experiences hottest March on record

March 2025 marked the record for the “hottest March” in Europe. According to data released by the Copernicus Climate Change Service of the European Union, March was the “second hottest March” globally. Last month, it was recorded as the hottest March in Europe since measurements began. This announcement came from the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service. In March 2025, the average temperature in Europe was measured at 6.03 degrees, which was 2.41 degrees higher than the March average from 1991-2020. Thus, last month became the hottest March for Europe. The largest temperature changes were recorded in Eastern Europe and southwestern Russia, while temperatures below average were felt on the Iberian Peninsula. Rainfall also varied across Europe, with many regions experiencing the “driest March” while some areas had the wettest March in record for the last 47 years. Globally, March 2025 was the second hottest March on record with an average of 14.06 degrees. The temperature in March 2025 was 0.08 degrees lower than the record-breaking March of 2024.
