Considered a significant step for the commercial and economic development of Düzce, the ‘Customs Directorate’ has been established. Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü and Düzce Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DTSO) President Erdoğan Bıyık thanked everyone who supported this initiative. The Düzce Customs Directorate was officially established with the Ministry’s approval dated October 17, 2024. Özlü and Bıyık announced the good news to the public through a joint press release. “CUSTOMS WAS A MAJOR NEED” Düzce Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DTSO) President Erdoğan Bıyık stated, “Düzce has finally obtained the Customs Directorate, which has been the most important issue of the last 20 years. As a developing industrial city, customs services were a major necessity. A 25-year longing has come to an end. Thanks to the leadership of our esteemed minister, we received approval as of October 17, 2024. Let it be auspicious for Düzce.” Mayor Faruk Özlü emphasized that the effective joint efforts carried out in the last six months were instrumental in the establishment of the Customs Directorate. Pointing out that Düzce has an export volume of nearly 2 billion dollars, Özlü stated, “There are 5 OIZs in Düzce, and we are progressing towards becoming an industrial city. As a result, there was a need to establish a Customs Directorate, and it has now been established legally.” Mayor Özlü announced that the Düzce Municipality allocated a building on the D-100 highway for the Customs Directorate, and temporarily, the area belonging to the Düzce Truck and Truck Motor Carriers Cooperative would be used as the customs area. He thanked Cooperative President Orhan Yılmaz for their support.
