Endangered Turtles, 100 Years Old, Became Parents for the First Time

Two giant turtles, living at the Philadelphia Zoo, became parents for the first time at the age of 100.

The Philadelphia Zoo in the state of Pennsylvania in the USA announced that the endangered ‘Western Santa Cruz Galapagos’ turtles Abrazzo and Mommy gave birth to four offspring.

THE OLDEST KNOWN MOTHER

Mommy, brought to the zoo in 1932, was recorded as the oldest known mother of this species. It was stated that the four baby turtles are being fed and raised in suitable conditions at the ‘Reptile and Amphibian House’ of the Philadelphia Zoo, and the date when the baby turtles will be introduced to the public was determined as Wednesday, April 23, the same day Mommy arrived at the zoo.
