Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has intervened in local state elections. Musk has started distributing $1 million checks to support the conservative candidate in the high court member elections in Wisconsin state. Elon Musk has stepped in for the high court membership election in Wisconsin state. Musk is making efforts for the conservative candidate Brad Schimel to be elected. In an election where the liberal candidate Sudan Crawford seemed to be leading, Musk opened his wallet to ensure Schimel becomes a high court member.
At a rally held in Green Bay, Musk handed out million-dollar checks to two voters supporting the conservative candidate. Elon Musk also promised to distribute $20 to those who will bring each vote to the conservative candidate. The election has already become the most expensive high court membership election in U.S. history. Musk, who says he spends money to inform the public about the election, stated, “You know, the purpose of the checks is to attract attention. Because the media will definitely report on this. We are at risk of losing the election. We need to pull a rabbit out of the hat.”
The high court membership election holds critical importance in terms of the state’s stance on issues such as abortion and workers’ rights. It is pointed out that the high court membership will play a significant role in determining the state’s election rules and districts. Elon Musk emphasized that election rules and districts can be changed by a high court decision. He highlighted that the representatives’ assembly elections of the Republicans could be affected.
It is reported that Elon Musk has spent $17.5 million so far to ensure the conservative candidate’s election. Musk had also spent $250 million last year to help Donald Trump get elected as president. Donald Trump had appointed Musk as the head of the “government efficiency unit.” Musk had laid off government employees by intervening in many agencies to reduce government spending.
