It has been revealed that Iceland’s Minister of Education and Child Affairs Thorsdottir had a child as a result of a relationship she had with an underage boy 36 years ago. As a result, the Minister has resigned from her position.

According to BBC, Iceland’s Minister of Education and Child Affairs, Asthildur Thorsdottir, was found to have had a relationship with 15-year-old Eirik Asmundsson when she was 22 years old and serving in a religious group.

Following the revelation that Thorsdottir had a child as a result of a relationship with an underage boy 36 years ago, she resigned from her position. Iceland’s Prime Minister, Kristrun Mjoll Frostadottir, called Thorsdottir to her office after the news broke. During this meeting, Minister Thorsdottir submitted her resignation. It was stated that Thorsdottir had a child from the relationship. Speaking to Iceland’s internet site Visir, Thorsdottir stated, “It’s been 36 years. A lot has changed since then, and I would handle it very differently today if it happened now.” Thorsdottir emphasized that this relationship was a mistake she made in her youth and did not want it to overshadow the work she was doing in her ministry.

Iceland is known as one of the happiest countries in the world.
