A 7.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of the Pangai region in the Kingdom of Tonga. Following the earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued.

A 7.1 earthquake occurred 90 kilometers southeast of the island nation of Tonga in the Pacific Ocean.

After the earthquake recorded by the US Geological Survey (USGS), a tsunami warning was also issued.

The warning highlighted the possibility of tsunami waves within 300 kilometers of the epicenter along the coast of Tonga.

Known as an island nation in the South Pacific Ocean, the Kingdom of Tonga is located about 3,000 km east of Australia and is home to around 100,000 people.
