An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 struck Papua New Guinea, followed by a tsunami warning.
The earthquake occurred in the New Britain island, which is part of Papua New Guinea.
After the earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued due to the quake originating at a depth of 49 kilometers. The US Pacific Tsunami Center announced the occurrence of waves ranging from one to three meters following the earthquake. It is currently unknown whether there have been any casualties or property damage as a result of the earthquake.
