Donald Trump’s October 7 statement: It wouldn’t have happened if I were president

2 Mins Read

Republican US Presidential Candidate Donald Trump claimed last year that if he were in office, the events of October 7 would “never have taken place.” Trump, who said that if re-elected, the US would be “closer to Israel than ever before,” used the words, “I will not allow the Jewish state to be threatened with destruction.”

Republican US Presidential Candidate Donald Trump made statements about Hamas’s Operation Aksa Storm, which started on October 7 last year, at an event held at his golf club located in the state of Florida, USA. Trump claimed that Hamas took advantage of the weakness of US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’s administration, saying, “The past few years have proven that weakness only breeds violence and war.”

Describing October 7 as a “horrific historical moment,” Trump used the words, “It was as if the gates of hell had opened and unleashed its terror upon the world. We never thought we would see this. And much of this is related to the leadership of this country.” He asserted that antisemitism increased after October 7, saying, “What was as shocking as October 7 itself was the explosion of antisemitism we saw immediately afterwards.” Trump claimed that anti-Jewish hatred had “especially engulfed the ranks of the Democratic Party,” stating, “The Republican Party was not infected with this terrible disease. And it won’t while I am in office.”

Stating that if he had been in office last year, the events in the Middle East would never have occurred, Trump promised full support for Israel if re-elected, saying, “If I were president, the October 7 attack would never have happened.” He expressed, “When I am president, the US will once again be strong and (closer to Israel) than ever before. But we need to win the election.” Trump emphasized the need for unwavering US leadership and said that a new and more harmonious Middle East is near. Saying, “I will not allow the Jewish state to be threatened with destruction. I will not allow the Jewish people to suffer another Holocaust,” Trump vowed, “I will not allow a jihad to be declared against America or our allies, and I will support Israel in winning the war.”
