Discrepancy in Retirement Pension between 2024-2025 | Minister Işıkhan: Our Teams Collaborating with the Treasury and Ministry of Finance

2 Mins Read

The fact that those who retire in 2024 will receive more pension in 2025 than those who retire in 2025 has prompted action from state institutions. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security, along with the Treasury and Ministry of Finance, will address the issue. Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, mentioned that although there is still uncertainty, work is being done on the matter. Due to the method of calculating the updating coefficient mentioned in Law No. 5510, there will be discrepancies in salaries for workers and Bağ-Kur retirees in 2024 and 2025. It is noted that those who retire in the second half of 2024 will receive approximately 30% more pension than those who retire in the first half of 2025.

Recently, discussions in the public and between ministries have begun regarding the difference in retirement pensions for those who will retire for the first time in 2024 compared to 2025.

Following the cabinet meeting, Minister Işıkhan was asked about what formula will be applied to the difference in retirement pensions. Minister Işıkhan, mentioning the lack of clarity on the matter, stated, “Our teams are working on it. We are collaborating with the Treasury and Ministry of Finance.” He also mentioned that he will have a meeting with Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz regarding the issue. It is calculated that those who retire in 2024 will receive approximately 34% more pension than those who retire in 2025. Therefore, it is stated that applying for retirement by December 31, 2024, for private sector workers, and by January 14, 2025, for public sector workers is more advantageous compared to 2025. WILL WORKING HOURS BE REDUCED?

Minister Işıkhan was reminded of claims that working hours will be reduced. Refuting these claims, Minister Işıkhan stated, “We do not have such plans.”
