Discovery of Sexual Assault Crime through Washing Machine Reflection

2 Mins Read

In South Korea, the High Court upheld the conviction of a 24-year-old man for a series of sexual crimes, including rape. The evidence of the assault was revealed through images reflected on the washing machine lid. Interestingly, security camera footage presented by the victim initially seemed like an ordinary recording with no apparent criminal elements. However, upon careful examination by investigators, it was understood that the reflection on the washing machine lid captured the moment of the assault. Authorities noted that the man had been charged with several crimes, including raping his ex-girlfriend and engaging in sexual activity with a minor.

THE COURT CONFIRMED THE SENTENCE The defendant had been sentenced to eight years in prison for being found guilty in November. However, upon appealing the decision, the case was taken to the High Court. Taking into account the agreement reached between the defendant and one of the victims, the court reduced the sentence to seven years. Additionally, the defendant was mandated to wear an electronic ankle monitor for seven years after release. Furthermore, he was prohibited from working in facilities where children, teenagers, and disabled individuals are present for a period of seven years. This incident once again highlighted the importance of technological evidence in combating sexual crimes in the country.
