Common criteria for the surveillance and inspection of vehicles, systems, components, and technical units have been established. The Regulation on Administrative Conditions Regarding Market Surveillance and Inspection of Vehicles, Systems, Components, and Separate Technical Units prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Technology has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force. The regulation sets out common criteria for the surveillance and inspection of vehicles, systems, components, and separate technical units, as well as provisions regarding report formats and information to be provided, along with the procedures and principles for their implementation. The regulation was prepared in line with European Union legislation. The regulation covers motor vehicles in the “M” (moped) and “N” (at least four-wheeled, motorized vehicles for transporting goods) categories intended for use on roads, as well as their trailers in the “O” category, including their systems, components, separate technical units, parts, and equipment. Accordingly, the adequacy of conformity verification checks carried out by the market surveillance and inspection organization, the frequency of checks carried out on vehicles registered in Turkey in the past year, the number of vehicles first registered by brand and commercial name, as well as verified complaints per brand and commercial name of vehicles in the last three years will be determined. The market surveillance and inspection organization will prepare an annual review report on planned market surveillance and inspection checks in the specified format. Additionally, a report will be written on the findings obtained after every two years of conformity verification checks. Parties will be required to provide information to the market surveillance and inspection organization to confirm compliance with these requirements.
