In Iran, the budget proposed by the government and approved by the parliament anticipates an increase of over 200% in military spending compared to last year. The Government Spokesperson in Iran, Fatma Muhacerani, assessed current developments at a press conference in the capital, Tehran. Muhacerani stated that every effort was made to meet defense needs in the budget for the upcoming year, which was approved by the parliament today. She emphasized, “Special importance was given to this issue. That’s why a significant increase of over 200% was made in the country’s military budget.” When asked about Iran’s view on the presidential elections in the USA, Muhacerani stated, “This election is a matter concerning the American people, and it doesn’t matter to us which of the two candidates will be chosen.” She expressed hope that the elected US president would show respect for the national sovereignty of other countries and abandon policies that lead to tensions in the region. Muhacerani added, “This will be beneficial to their people. Every time the US increases tension in regions, they face losses.” She also mentioned that the construction of a wall on the country’s eastern borders to combat irregular migration continued, and the deportation of unauthorized foreign nationals was ongoing.
