In Myanmar, it has been reported that the death toll has risen to 3,003 in the earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 6.4. According to Myanmar state television (MRTV), the number of casualties and injuries has increased since the earthquakes that occurred on March 28th. While the death toll has risen to 3,003, the number of injured people has reached 4,639.
MILITARY REGIME FIRES AT CHINESE RED CROSS CONVOY
According to Myanmar Now, the spokesperson of the military regime, Major General Zaw Min Tun, confirmed that the army fired at a Chinese Red Cross convoy heading towards the northern Shan state to deliver aid to the earthquake-affected areas. Tun stated, “We tried to stop the convoy, but they didn’t stop. Then, we fired warning shots from about 100 meters away.”
EARTHQUAKES IN MYANMAR
Two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 6.4 struck near the Sagaing region in central Myanmar on March 28th. The earthquakes were also strongly felt in Thailand and China. The earthquakes caused significant destruction in the country, raising concerns about further increases in the death toll.
ONE PERSON RESCUED ALIVE AFTER 5 DAYS
Five days after the earthquakes caused massive destruction in the country, a joint effort by the Myanmar fire department and rescue teams from Turkey led to the successful rescue of one person alive from the rubble.
