A tornado hitting the United States has resulted in the loss of 36 lives, causing life to come to a standstill in some states. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement of condolences for the tornado disaster. It was stated, “We convey our condolences to the American people and wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
A tornado and dust storm that began over the weekend in the United States have resulted in major destruction in the southern part of the country. As damage assessment efforts continue, it was reported that the number of fatalities has risen to 36. Over 340,000 households were left without electricity, with the highest death toll recorded in Missouri. Governor Mike Kehoe announced that search operations are ongoing in the city, where over 500 homes were destroyed.
Mississippi was reported as another state hit by the tornadoes. More than 20 cities in the state suffered damage. In Kansas, a severe windstorm led to life coming to a halt. Eight people died in a chain traffic accident involving over 50 vehicles. The injured were transported to hospitals with difficulty.
The White House issued a statement indicating that President Donald Trump has deployed the National Guard for assistance. According to the National Weather Service, around 40 tornadoes have occurred from Friday until today. The American broadcasting company NBC reported that the storm’s path has shifted towards the east, putting Pennsylvania, Ohio, and North Carolina at risk.
