The delivery of the first ALTAY tanks from the tank factory will take place in 2025. Until the completion of the testing process, the initial tanks will feature Korean power units. Furthermore, efforts will be made for the development of a domestic and national engine for naval vehicles.
The tank factory and the delivery date for the first ALTAY tank have been revealed.
Fuat Tosyalı, Chairman of Tosyalı Holding and BMC Board of Directors, stated, “By the end of next year, both our tank factory with all its units will be completed and the first tanks will be produced and delivered to our forces.” Tosyalı made these remarks at the SAHA EXPO International Defense, Aviation, and Space Industry Fair held at the Istanbul Expo Center. He said that domestic engine projects are taking national defense industry independence one step further.
Regarding the success achieved in the power units of land vehicles attracting the attention of the naval forces, Tosyalı announced that BMC Marin engine production has been assigned to the company. Tosyalı said, “Now our naval vehicles are beginning to use our domestic and national engines and power units. We are starting with small and medium-sized engines.”
As Tosyalı shared updated information about the tank engine they produced for the ALTAY tank, he mentioned that the tank engine production process emerged out of a significant need, and due to the difficulties in foreign procurement, efforts in this direction began. Tosyalı expressed that BMC POWER was established for this reason and that since then, steps have been taken to develop the tank engine. Tosyalı emphasized the uniqueness of the ALTAY power unit, stating, “Only 6 or 7 countries in the world can produce it. We are one of them. We produced our engine. It has undergone intensive testing at the testing center. Last year, we delivered our first 2 tanks. Our Army is testing it. It has passed all test stages smoothly. Now we are at the stage of serial production. Our tank factory investment in Ankara is also continuing at full speed. By the end of next year, both our tank factory with all its units will be completed and the first tanks will be produced and delivered to our forces.” Tosyalı also explained that until the completion of the testing of their own power units, the initial tanks will feature Korean power units.
