Cyprus Leaders Met in Buffer Zone

The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar, and the leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration, Nikos Hristodulidis, met in the buffer zone under the auspices of the United Nations (UN).

The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar, and the leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration, Nikos Hristodulidis, held a meeting in the buffer zone under the auspices of the United Nations (UN).

The meeting, hosted by the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Cyprus and the Chief of Mission of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), Colin Stewart, reportedly included Tatar accompanied by Presidential Special Representative Güneş Onar, and Hristodulidis accompanied by Greek negotiator Menelaos Menelau. The meeting lasted approximately 1.5 hours, during which Tatar and Hristodulidis discussed the Cyprus issue and evaluated the Geneva talks.
